Strange, I had an idea similar to your concept, but wasn't sure how to execute it. Have you had much success in attracting clients? What qualifications do you possess?

I'm 23 years old and I live in Canada, so I'm not trying to take your business from you, but I'm just curious as to how you pull it off.

we spent a couple of years at st lukes (in division 3) trying to do this objective 9 and in some ways I still am. having done both I have to say its so much easier to get content into the world if you dont have an agency to report to. It's a real stretch for an agency; like it is for any company to work with two business models. The ad bit is like a taxi, meter always running, money ticking in. The content bit is like buying a series of lottery tickets. Actually more like scratch cards given the rates in broadcast & publishing, but if you get into online start-up territory then a lottery for sure. In the short term the agency loves the self image of doing 'pure creative ideas'. in the long term they seldom have the patience and the people who split off to pursue this get resented for not paying their way (we actially did in div3, but the suspicion still seemed to be there that somehow we didnt because how could we be?) Having said which great ideas have a way of working their way into the world. And one of the advantages of all this is challenging the agency model. I dont think i have a point really, but i as one of the older members of the senate I have to give speeches occasionally as a polite way of slipping out to the loos during a long debate. those stone sdeats get so cold. :J

Oh, I gave up the need to be right quite a while ago Marcus- not only is life easier but you learn a lot more that way.
I'd like to investigate Rob's thinking through the references he pointed me to- and I thank him for that. Once his premises had been further clarified (not the demise of innovation and creativity but "the rate of development of technological innovation") I believe that he has more legs to stand on too.
